Built by a business, for businesses

REX Office Software is a trading name of Energy Conscious Design Limited, an Auckland based engineering, software development and design consultancy. Like every small firm we watched the monthly subscriptions pile up: accounting, PDF tools, drawing converters, each one a fee for as long as we wanted to keep using our own files.

So we built our own: REX Accounts to run our books, REX Paperworks to handle our PDF editing needs, and REX Visio2DXF to move our Visio drawings into CAD. They are practical, no-nonsense tools that we rely on every day, and we sell them the way we wished software was sold: buy it once, install it on your own computers, and keep it.

Request a free 60-day trial key for REX Accounts (name, company, email), download the software and enter the key. Every feature is available and nothing you enter is lost when you buy. Paperworks and Visio2DXF have no trial.

Click Buy now on the product page. Checkout is run by Lemon Squeezy, which handles your transaction and adds any local sales tax. There is no recurring charge.

Get your key by email

Your licence key arrives by email at once. REX Accounts: it is made for your company name and works on Windows and Mac, on every computer your company owns. Paperworks and Visio2DXF: it is made for your own name, and the program shows who it is licensed to.

Activate once, offline

Enter the company name (Accounts) or your own name (Paperworks, Visio2DXF) and the key on first launch, or under Settings if you are in the Accounts trial. No account, no internet connection needed, nothing phones home.

Questions people ask before switching

Is a cloud package really riskier than software on my own computer?

Cloud providers hold the files of thousands of businesses behind their login system, which makes them a target for criminals, and your access depends on your password, their uptime and your internet connection. REX keeps your data in a file on your own computer. Nobody can log in to it from the internet because it is not on the internet. The risk you carry instead is a failed hard drive, which is why REX Accounts takes automatic backups and lets you keep dated copies whenever and wherever you like.

Do I need a separate licence for each computer or person?

REX Accounts is licensed to a company name and runs on all of that company's computers. REX Paperworks and REX Visio2DXF are each licensed to one named user, so each person who uses them needs their own licence. The name (and company, if you enter one) is shown at the bottom of the program's window. See the licence agreement.

Is the trial really free, and what happens at the end?

Yes. You give us your name, company name and email on the trial page and we email you the key; no card details are taken and nothing renews. At the end of 60 days the program locks until a licence key is entered; your data is kept, and when you buy, everything carries on exactly where you left it. There is no automatic charge because there is nothing to charge.

Requirements and support

Software runs on

Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), or macOS 11 or later on Apple silicon (M1 or newer). No internet connection is needed to use the software. Get the files on the Downloads page.

Install and activate

Run the installer (or unzip), start the app, and enter your licence key once: with your company name for Accounts, with your own name for Paperworks and Visio2DXF (which show "Licensed to" your name at the bottom of the window). Activation is offline; the apps never contact a server.
